Research Group: Advanced prosthetics & orthotics
We develop novel sensors and systems to enable intelligent user-device interface and evidence-based rehabilitation in the general fields of prosthetics and orthotics.
We develop novel sensors and systems to enable intelligent user-device interface and evidence-based rehabilitation in the general fields of prosthetics and orthotics.
Typical research areas include stump/socket interface for limb amputees, fingertip haptic sensors, intelligent insoles to help prevent diabetic foot ulcerations etc. with a funding portfolio across MRC, EPSRC, Innovate UK, Charities, NIHR and industries. We collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities. We apply interdisciplinary expertise across body interface sensors, intelligent control, AI evaluation, IoT, computational modelling and musculoskeletal biomechanics etc. which underpin novel solutions to enable digitisation and evidence-based rehabilitation in P&O, helping improve quality of lives.
