Research project: CFD simulation of surface textures for small combustion engines

The project attempts to optimise surface texturing for a small combustion engines (chainsaw, lawnmower) using a computational fluid dynamics approach.

Surface texturing of combustion engines can be challenging as the optimal texture pattern is often specific to the contact conditions experienced by a component at a particular location. This project attempts to address this issue by optimising texture location and geometry for small combustion engines (such as that used in lawnmowers and chainsaws) by using a predictive computational fluid dynamics approach.
