Project Overview

To develop a tinnitus therapy intervention based on the Emotional Processing Model. To evaluate the effectiveness of emotional processing based tinnitus therapy intervention. To evaluate patients’ experiences of emotional processing based tinnitus therapy intervention.
Patients will be selected following assessment by the Audiological Physician and allocated to a treatment or a waiting list group. Treatment will consist of tinnitus therapy using the Emotional Processing model and guided disclosure/ narrative therapy. Pre- and post treatment assessment will be undertaken using a Tinnitus VAS, the Emotional Processing Questionnaire and the Tinnitus Acceptance Questionnaire. Patients will be interviewed after 4-6 months and this qualitative data will be analysed.
