Research project: Investigation into the use of statistics for analysing listening test data

Currently Active:

Research Project

Subjective listening experiments often take the form of A-B-X type tests where listeners are required to choose which of A or B most has a particular audible characteristic in common with X. The data generated by these experiments cannot readily be analysed using parametric statistical techniques such as analysis of variance (ANOVA) so non-parametric techniques have to be used. These techniques are not found in the established audio-related literature despite the widespread use of these types of experiment.
