Hi, I'm André Gordon and I'm currently studying MEng Civil Engineering at the University of Southampton.

During my degree, I enrolled on the SUCCESS scheme and linked up with the WSP Consultancy in Southampton. I got the opportunity to do a summer placement with the company

I was interested in architecture as well as engineering, so I chose to come to University of Southampton because it was possible to study design, through a dedicated module. I was impressed with the choice of modules so you can follow your own interests throughout your degree.

In the first year, everyone took part in the Constructionarium in Norfolk, where we all had the chance to build a smaller-scale replica of an iconic building. My team worked on the Millau Viaduct in France, it was a brilliant week and a great introduction to civil engineering.

For my third year individual project, I looked at how people perceive the quality of the environment of common spaces such as entrances to buildings and in particular, I examined how students viewed the lobby of the Hartley Library at Southampton.

In my spare time I’ve been involved in sound engineering as I’m interested in hip hop music and also play basketball.
