Christopher Read BEng Acoustical Engineering

Hi, I'm Christopher Read and I studied BEng Acoustical Engineering within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

I have enjoyed the design aspects to the course, it strongly contributed towards my choice of dissertation project.

The University of Southampton's reputation and facilities prompted Christopher Read to enrol on a BEng Acoustical Engineering, after starting off studying music technology at college. But he admits: "It was not an easy change to make as I had not completed Maths or Physics A or AS level, so I took a foundation year before being accepted onto the course.

Christopher believes the degree will help him get a good job: "There are a lot of fields you can go into with acoustical engineering. For example, I secured a placement at a Formula 1 team, which was an incredible experience."  He says academic staff are very helpful. "If ever there is a problem they are quick to respond to emails or arrange meetings to talk through problems."

Outside class, Christopher uses the university gym and other sports facilities, he is also thinking about joining the mountain biking club.
