Hi, I'm Maryia Zaretskaya and I studied MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

I think the experience of working at ESA will help me with my future career.

Aeronautics and Astronautics student Maryia Zaretskaya spent 3 months in the Netherlands gaining valuable experience working for the European Space Agency (ESA).

"I applied for a work placement at ESA, the theme of my individual project matched a research project happening at ESA at that time which worked in my favour and I was offered a 3 month placement.

I was based in Noordwijk, in the Netherlands, working within the Advanced Concepts Team doing research on modelling plasma processes during spacecraft re-entry. There were a lot of young people working at ESA too so I had a lot of fun going out with them after work and exploring Holland.

I think the experience of working at ESA will help me with my future career. I learned a lot while I was there and met some great people with whom I've kept in touch.

I would definitely recommend this placement to others. I guarantee you will love it and meet many interesting people."
