Hi I am Gabriela Paclíková currently studying English as a postgraduate.

Studying at Southampton is enjoyable. As a student, you feel you belong to a community made up of nice people. Lecturers are real professionals. They are usually supportive and caring.

What made you choose to come and study at Southampton?  

Location in England and bilateral agreement with Charles University in Prague.       

What were you anxious about before coming to Southampton?

I was a bit worried about finding appropriate accommodation for me. Southampton is a student friendly city and so finding a flat that fits your needs is not a problem. Once in Southampton I felt alright because people around me were very helpful and I settled into my accommodation quickly.

What is it like studying here?

Studying at Southampton is enjoyable. As a student you feel you belong to a community made up of nice people. The Campus is a very safe place to live and study.

How do you rate the study facilities?

Study facilities are great. At Avenue Campus Library there are quite small study spaces but in the end thee are computer pods and rooms where you can study too.

What have been your Southampton highlights so far?

While studying in Southampton I was a member of the Southampton Chamber Opera or "Chopera". Being part of this choir was a great experience.

What other activities have you enjoyed?

I attended volley ball training.

What are you enjoying most about your course?

I enjoy good quality teaching and a  positive atmosphere within contact hours.

What networking, employment and work experience opportunities have you undertaken?

During my undergraduate degree and mainly in the summer, I was working mainly in Europe. It taught me that doing a good job brings fulfilment. I learnt different ways to reach goals while working and studying.  
What advice would you offer potential students?

Studying at Southampton is great. it is good to accept that you learn yourself not for your lecturers. Join societies and clubs. Meet new people. Southampton is a place where you can fell positive about everything so don't miss the chance to study here.

Do you like living in Southampton?

Yes I like living in Southampton. The city is not too big with nice places to visit such as the parks, museums, nightclubs and shopping. It feels very safe in every part of the City too.
