Telling True Stories: Narrative Non Fiction Course

In this eight-week module, you will explore the craft of creative non-fiction. Ranging from literary journalism to memoir, you will look at formulating and focusing ideas; evoking place, people and personalities in prose; research through interviewing and other sources; structuring your story; formulating and narrative; and the writing itself. The module will conclude with the mechanics of getting published both in traditional media and online. The aim is for you to formulate ideas and write a piece of 1,000 to 5,000 words. Classes will be based around discussion and workshops in which you’ll share your works-in-progress with the group.
