This lecture-performance will explore links in the domestic music collection of the Austen family with music played in Winchester within Jane Austen's lifetime (1772-1817). The concert will signify the end of a four-year PhD project by Samantha Carrasco at Southampton University studying the music collection and Hampshire music-making as a whole. A wide variety of keyboard instruments will be used to highlight different timbres and ensemble combinations including solos, songs and piano duets with informative introductions preceding each piece.
