Event details

Open mic event featuring guests Sabrina Mahfouz and Azra Tabassum.

A chance to share your poems with a warm and friendly audience.

Poets from the workshops will be able to share the work they produced earlier in the day and everyone who performs will be able to contribute to an 'instant anthology' produced during the evening.

If you would like to read or perform, please sign up on the door from 6.30pm. Please note, there are limited spaces for the open mic.

To contribute to the anthology you will need to bring 50 A4 copies of the poem or one of the poems you intend to read on the night. After the poetry the bar will stay open and there will be a chance to socialise.

Sabrina Mahfouz
Sky Academy Arts Scholar for poetry; Associate Artist alumni at the Bush Theatre; Poet in Residence at Cape Farewell - climate change and arts organisation; Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum and Writer at Liberty for the civil rights charity, Liberty. Her first collection of plays and poems, The Clean Collection, is published by Bloomsbury.

Azra Tabassum
Azra is a Southampton-based poet who looks towards poetry and language as a way to expand herself without having to move even an inch - words are freeing in a way that most things aren't and can't be. She writes about love, in all the ways she knows it and all the ways she doesn't - desire, lust, and always, always, the struggle of women.

Hosted by Catherine Wright
Under Cath’s MCing of last year's rambunctious Woman Scream Poetry Night the audience constructed a group poem, learned about women laureates and generally got a bit above themselves. So get ready for a bit of audience participation, charge your glasses, warm up the vocal chords and expect the unexpected.

Open Mic ticket: £5.00

Reading Women Differently + Open Mic ticket: £7.50

Poetry/Writing Workshop + Open Mic ticket: £10.00, £5.00 concessions
