Event details

The 16th April sees the launch of two new pamphlets of F.T. Prince's poetry published by Perdika Press.

The pamphlets, edited by Will May and Peter Robinson, bring together unpublished material from the F.T. Prince archive at the Hartley Library's Special Collections.

F.T. Prince was a former Professor at the University of Southampton. He helped found the English department, and his poetry was celebrated as one of the university's 60 achievements in its Jubilee year.

'The two volumes bring together very different aspects of Prince's writing', explains Will. 'The first pamphlet, 'Memoirs of Caravaggio', includes a substantial unpublished poem from the 1950s, which sheds new light on 'Soldiers Bathing', one of his most famous works.  The second, 'In Keats Country', collects a 1995 poem about Keats walking through Winchester together with some of Prince's first mature poems from the 1930s, when he was heavily influenced by Keats' work'.

The pamphlets are available to pre-order from Perdika Press now.
