Part of the Southampton Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies Research Seminar series

2013 is the 300th anniversary of the birth of Laurence Sterne. Geoffrey Day, renowned expert on Sterne and the eighteenth-century novel, will begin this talk by establishing the truth of 'greatest' by looking at the dissemination of the work across the globe and the influence it has exerted on the literatures of other nations before moving on to explore one controversial aspect of his comic technique in detail.
