Visits & Open Days

Do you want to study English? Visit us in Southampton to find out more about our BA courses, ask our tutors about your application, and meet our current students.

You can explore university life at one of our Open Days, or take in a sample seminar at a Visit Day. If you can’t make these dates, we can also arrange a campus tour and department visit for you. Email us today to book your visit.

Open Days

Open Days are the best way to get to know the university and the degrees we offer in the English Department. These take place in July, September, and October, and introduce you to the range  of our degrees, the tutors who will teach you, and the students you will be studying alongside.

Visit Days

If you are offered a place, we will invite you to attend a Visit Day. This is not an assessment, but a great opportunity for you to find out more about your degree and experience a day in the life on campus. The more you can learn about your potential university, the better: we want to give you all the information you need to make your choice.

Alongside a campus tour, you will hear a talk from current students about life here, from accommodation to student societies and arts events.

You can also take part in small group discussion with tutors and current students to sample our teaching. Over lunch, you can ask tutors and students anything you like, whether it’s about our current research, what students enjoy about studying abroad, the reading list for a particular module , or why we think Southampton is the best place to start an intellectual journey.

Our Academic Support

You don’t need to wait until you arrive next year for our academic support. Contact us to see a sample reading list, or message us to take part in an online webinar on one of your A-level set texts.
