We cover the full range of English literature, with particular strengths in medieval and Renaissance studies, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature and culture, modernism, and international writing. Our undergraduates have therefore been exposed to a wide range of pedagogical and theoretical approaches and bring subject expertise which they can disseminate both to teachers and to pupils in the schools during their placements.
A range of career options
While our English graduates go on to enjoy success in a diverse range of careers, primary and secondary school teaching remains a popular career choice. We therefore feel that offering modules with the opportunity of teaching experience plays a significant role in preparing students for their futures.
