Southampton welcome Aardman producer for Film Week event

Published: 24 October 2013

This year, for the first time, Southampton's Film Dept. is very pleased to be supporting the Southampton Film Week, by running a joint event.

On Tuesday 5 November, at 11am, Aardman Consultant Producer Richard Beek will be giving a talk, here on the Avenue campus ( Lecture Theatre A) on: 'What's Involved in Animating "Wallace and Gromit", "Pirates" and "Shaun the Sheep".'

Since graduating from Newport (Wales) University with a BA in Film Studies, Richard Beek has had 13 years' experience in the film industry, in particular, as both producer and assistant director for animation and live action films.

He will talk us through what's involved in bringing the well-known characters of director Nick Park - such as Wallace and Gromit - to our cinema screens. Richard's talk, accompanied by film clips, will reveal what it's like to work to tight deadlines, while making sure that the high standards and quality expected of these internationally acclaimed stop-motion animated films are not compromised. Some of the carefully crafted models of the much loved characters, used in making the films, will be available for you to look at after the talk.

The talk is FREE, but spaces are limited, so you should go on line to book a place, as soon as possible, which you can do by following this link: http://www.southamptonfilmweek.com/tuesday-5-november.html
