Professor Lucy Mazdon collaborates with Eastleigh Council on a public art project to retell the story of a 19th century railway disaster

Professor Lucy Mazdon recently collaborated on the Regal Walk public art project in tandem with Eastleigh Council / The Point Eastleigh. The project drew on resources at Eastleigh museum to find accounts of a local nineteenth century railway disaster.
Mazdon and Eastleigh Public Arts Officer Joanne Calcutt devised a series of silent film style inter-titles retelling this story which have been carved onto paving slabs and placed in Regal Walk in Eastleigh town centre. A competition was held among local writing groups to find the wording for the final slab and this was won by Dorothy Collard. The project is linked a much larger research project currently being planned by Professor Mazdon and Film colleague Dr Michael Williams.
