Mr Ao Chen is a PhD Candidate within Film at the University of Southampton in the UK.

Mr Ao Chen is an experimental animator, experimental sound designer, and film theories researcher. His 2019 animated short film Red was officially selected for the 43rd Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the 64th Cork Film Festival in Ireland, the 23rd Winterthur International Short Film Festival in Switzerland, and the 22nd Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico, published in the British Council Film – UK Animation Catalogue 2019. In addition to discovering film practices, he also examines how film theories guide film practices and explores new approaches to studying film ontology.
