Hi, I'm Dom Kullander and I studied BA Film Studies within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

Throughout the course my participation in extra-curricular societies has swayed my ambitions to television, which is strengthened by my work in film.

I studied film at A level, and was taken by its flexibility and my own personal interest in the subject. My A level film teacher recommended it as his first choice for my course in the UK. I was quite familiar with the city centre, so one thing that struck me was the close proximity of everything in the city. I loved the campus vibe too; Avenue Campus instantly felt like a second home.

I went on the BA Film Studies course with the intention of following a career in film. However, throughout the course my participation in extra-curricular societies has swayed my ambitions to television, which is strengthened by my work in film.

Having spent a year at Cardiff University before arriving, I was able to assimilate quickly into the student lifestyle. Socially, I made friends with almost everyone on my course (ours being the smallest in Humanities), and some of my best friends are from Film.

Humanities is a very tight-knit and yet inclusive community, which has the feel of a school or institution in its own right. Having Avenue Campus exclusively for Humanities means that making friends from various humanities disciplines is almost inevitable.

I'm heavily involved in SUSUtv, the Students' Union's television station which takes up the vast majority of my spare time, as well as an active member of FilmSoc.

Placements are a big interest of mine, as they are the best way to get an impression of future employment environments, as well as giving you invaluable contacts.

The plan is to complete my three year degree and move to London in search of jobs in the media. I think at 22 I will definitely have had enough of education and will be keen to get out there and put my skills to practice!
