FIPO's Mark Cranshaw joins Vice Chancellor in China
This month FIPO's director Mark Cranshaw traveled with Professor Jane Falkingham, the Dean of the Faculty of Social, Human and Mathematical Sciences to China, Singapore and Malaysia to visit existing partners and meet with potential new contacts.
Mark and Jane started their trip in Singapore where they visited the University of Southampton Malaysian Campus as well as key Malaysian universities. They then flew to Kuala Lumpur to meet Dr Zhang Ying from Xiamen University, one of our key strategic partners in China, at Xiamen Campus Kuala Lumpur. Founded in 2015, Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is one of the first overseas campuses established by a Chinese university. While in Kuala Lumpur, Mark and Jane met with other key partners before flying to Beijing.
In Beijing, Mark and Jane joined the main Vice-Chancellor's party, which included a visit to prestigious Renmin University as well as an alumni event for Chinese graduates from the University of Southampton. For the rest of the trip, Mark and Jane visited partner universities across China where several new collaborative contracts were signed. They also attended the Shanghai Populatation Forum and the CUEB Anniversary Event.
This trip was a great success for FIPO as it started dialogues with new potential partners, as well as enriching and enhancing our relationship with our existing partners - including signing contracts for new programmes which will hopefully bring more international students in the years to come.
