Launch of this Year's Free English Development Sessions
The 201617 Free English Development classes start today! All Partnership students are invited to this course for their first year in the UK.
As part of the Faculty International Office's commitment to making our students' time at The University of Southampton as successful as possible, every year we run a weekly English Development class. Developed in conjunction with the School of Humanities, this class is free to all of our students during their first year in the UK.
Our data has shown again and again that there is a strong link between English ability level and achievement at Southampton for our Partnership students. This is why academically strong students whose English skills are not as developed are offered the chance to take a pre-sessional course before their main course. We also encourage all Partnership students to join student societies and to work or volunteer within Southampton, to further improve their English abilities.
This year the English lessons will be taught by Mr. Chris Cullen. There are three classes running throughout the afternoon, so if you're a student who's unsure about their group and time, please do let us know. We look forward to catching up with these students later in the year.
