Celebrating O.P Jindal Global University’s anniversary and strengthening the partnership with the University of Southampton

O.P Jindal Global University is our strategic partner in India, with whom we have a study abroad agreement. Our law students have also visited Jindal for summer school in the past couple of years. They have enjoyed this great opportunity to extend their horizon and explore the splendid culture of India.

On 10th June 2019, colleagues across a wide range of Higher Institutions gathered in London to celebrate 10 years of O.P Jindal Global University.

The celebrations started with a captivating evening at Masala Zone in Covent Garden hosted by Prof Dr C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P Jindal Global University and Prof Arjya B Majumdar, Associate Professor of O.P Jindal Global University Law School & Executive Director of Office of Rankings, Benchmarking & Institutional Transformation (Orbit).

The celebrations continued next day with a seminar at the Royal Society in London on Globalisation of Higher Education.

The inaugural session consisted of meaningful presentations for strengthening bilateral relations between India and Southampton. These were presented by Professor Jane Falkingham, Executive Dean of Social Sciences for University of Southampton, The Rt. Hon’ble the Lord David Willetts, Former Minister of State for Universities and Science from UK Government, Dr. Joanna Newman MBE FRSA, Chief Executive & Secretary for the Association from Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and Rohit Vadhwana, First Secretary (Economic Affairs) from Indian High Commission.

The second part of the seminar consisted of two thematic sessions:

• International Rankings and Benchmarking of Universities and their impact on funding chaired by Professor Jane Falkingham.
• Internationalisation of Higher Education: Global Partnerships and research, chaired by Professor Dr. C. Raj Kumar.

These two thematic sessions had respected colleagues from O.P Jindal Global University, University of Southampton, and QS Quacquarelli Symonds as panellists.

Professor Dr. Sabu Padmadas concluded the evening with a vote of thanks and a reflection on the partnership between O.P Jindal Global University & University of Southampton.
