University of Southampton visits Indonesia to expand collaborative opportunities

In June, a delegation representing the University of Southampton's Faculty of Social Sciences, travelled to Jakarta in Indonesia. The delegation included Prof Sabu Padmadas, Associate Dean International Social Sciences; Prof Nikos Tzavidis, Head of Economic, Social and Political Sciences; Prof Martin Dyke, Head of Southampton Education School; Song Pan Utz, Senior Manager of Faculty International Office of Social Sciences; Dr Fatimah Zainudin of Southampton Business School; and Prof Nina Jorgensen of Southampton Law School.

During this trip, the delegation took part in student recruitment activities and engaged in many discussions regarding joint research collaborations, seminars, and conferences opportunities with educational institutions. These visits included exploring government projects with the Minster, as well as government funding opportunities with funding agencies. These meetings were productive and the Faculty International Office looks forward to welcoming students.

On the evening of 16th June, the delegation gathered in Jakarta to host an alumni dinner. This was a great opportunity to catch up with former students, to find out their news, and hear stories from their time spent studying at Southampton.

This trip made a positive impact and the University of Southampton looks forward to visiting Indonesia again soon.
