The Faculty of Social Sciences has signed a new memorandum of understanding with our partner Statistics Netherlands (CBS)

On 18 September, members of Statistics Netherlands participated in a workshop on Official Statistics and Artificial Intelligence hosted by Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute and Turing@Southampton.

The workshop discussed the link, potential use and applications of Artificial Intelligence in the area of official statistics. During the workshop, Professor Mark Spearing, President and Vice-Chancellor (interim) and Dr Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, Director General of Statistics Netherland, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement forges a stronger working partnership, building on the strong ties between Statistics Netherlands and the University, by facilitating academic exchanges and cooperation in teaching and research.
