FIO team opens the Global Lounge

On the 2nd October, the Faculty International Office of Social Sciences launched the Global Lounge in Building 54 Room 2001 for International students to use to study and relax between lectures. This was in response to student feedback requesting a space to work, unwind, and socialise.

This room is open 8am – 6pm on weekdays. The room contains 12 microwaves, 2 hot water points, cold water bottle filler, a group study room, mobile phone charging points, study desks and a printer. The Faculty International Office invites students to pop in and make yourselves at home!

Prof Mark E Smith, Vice Chancellor, attended the launch and met with a diverse group of international students studying subjects from across the Faculty. The students were honoured to meet with our new Vice Chancellor and to discuss their experience at Southampton with him. The FIO team was also in attendance to welcome students into the space!

We will be using the room for upcoming student events and activities relating to global opportunities, so please look out for our invites. If you would like to request a booking, please email FSS-International@soton.ac.uk .
