Welcome Dinner 23rd October 2019
The Welcome Dinner for the 2019/20 student intake took place on Wednesday 23rd October at 6pm in the Level 1 Foyer of the Murray Building (58).
The Faculty International Office provided an authentic Chinese buffet at the welcome dinner, and gave partner students across the Faculty the chance to eat delicious food and meet key academic staff informally in order to seek their advice personally. It also offered the students the chance to meet each other and make some new friends. It was a great success, with many students coming to mingle with friends, old and new!
For this year's dinner, there was a great turn out from academic and support staff within the Faculty. Academics in attendance included: Prof Nikos Tzavidis, Head of Economic, Social and Political Sciences; Dr Jan Podivinsky, Director of Internationalisation in Economics; Prof Martin Broad, Head of Business School; Dr Bai Xue, Study Abroad Coordinator of Southampton Business School; Dr Hou-Duo Qi, Director of Internationalisation in Mathematics; and Prof John Aldridge, Student Academic Tutor of Economics. Meng Zhan, Student Advisor, Miriam Gómez López, Daisy Lauren-Sherburn, and Jenna Graham from the FIO team, were also on hand to provide hands on advice and guidance for the students as they begin their journey of study in Southampton.
The FIO team would like to thank everyone who came along to the dinner. It was lovely to see so many of you there!
