India Centre Welcome Reception 2021

On 3 November 2021, the Faculty International Office (FIO) supported the University’s India Centre to host a reception event to welcome both new and returning students back to campus. Attendees met up on Highfield Campus and enjoyed refreshments as they got to know each other better by conversing together throughout the evening.

The reception was chaired by Professor Sabu Padmadas, Associate Dean International of Social Sciences, and was also attended by Professor Jane Falkingham, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, who gave the opening address to welcome students to the University and to this event.  Maria Norton, Donna Haynes and Josie Love from the University’s International Office, as well as FIO colleagues Daisy Lauren-Sherburn and Jenna Graham were also in attendance, and each introduced themselves to the audience.

During the reception, Professor Padmadas gave a presentation about the India Centre and let students know about upcoming events and how they can get involved in these activities. We were very happy with the high turnout for our reception event and the enthusiastic response that we received from students!

This reception was an excellent opportunity for us to meet and greet new arrivals, as well as wish all attendees a happy and safe Diwali! We look forward to meeting again with students soon during our Thanksgiving celebrations taking place later this month.
