Tata Institute of Social Sciences

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1964 it was declared to be a university under the name Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

It is one of the premier institutes in India in social sciences, human development, public policy and economics and is a part of an elite group of research and higher learning institutes with early support from the Tata Trusts in India.

TISS is ranked as one of the top Indian universities, and combines a long history of collaborations within India with academic and research collaborations with other world class institutions, including some of the most prestigious UK and US Economics and Technology universities.

In 2016 The University of Southampton signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TISS which we hope will lead to a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership.
