Progression to Master’s Study

♦ Master’s Progression Pathway

Where you see this symbol, successful completion of the study abroad programme for a full academic year will allow you to apply for a linked Master’s course at the University of Southampton, subject to the entry requirements below:

Master’s progression: Law pathway

The Law School encourages Study Abroad students to make their study progression to the LLM. Application workshops and admission support will be provided to Study Abroad students at the end of semester one. Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for the LLM programme:

Undergraduate degree: Upper Second Class Honours or equivalent, from a recognised high ranked university

Social Sciences Study Abroad pathway: An average score of 50% or more will allow you to meet the LLM English language entry requirements

Master’s progression: Business pathway

Students who successfully complete two semesters on the Accounting and Finance; International Banking and Financial Studies; Management Sciences; or Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship pathway and meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for the linked Masters programmes specified for their pathway:

Undergraduate degree: Upper Second Class Honours or equivalent, from a recognised high ranked university

Social Sciences Study Abroad pathway: An average score of 60% or more

Students must also meet the English language requirement of their chosen Masters Programme

Master’s progression: Education, Mathematics, Economic, Social and Political Sciences pathways

Students who successfully complete two semesters on a Social Sciences Study Abroad Master’s Progression Pathway and meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for the linked Masters programmes specified for that pathway:

Undergraduate degree: Lower Second Class Honours or equivalent, from a recognised high ranked university

Social Sciences Study Abroad pathway: An average score of 60% or more Students must also meet the English language requirement of their chosen Masters Programme

Standard Master’s progression

Students who complete a single semester of study or wish to apply for a Master’s programme not specified on their pathway will be subject to the standard admissions requirements for that programme. Admissions requirements for all Postgraduate Taught Programmes can be found on our website.
