The University of Southampton
The 14th Generative Approaches to Second Language Acquisition Conference

Organising committee

GASLA 14 is hosted by the Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR), in the department of Modern Languages at the University of Southampton. CLLEAR is the home of researchers and postgradute students whose research falls under the large umbrella of applied and general linguistics. Our current main research areas cover Linguistic Theory, Second Language Acquisition, Multilingualism and Language Learning and Teaching.

GASLA 14 has two main organisers:

Roumyana Slabakova

Roumyana Slabakova is Chair of Applied Linguistics and Director of CLLEAR. Roumyana's research is grounded in generative linguistic theory and explores the second language (L2) acquisition process. Her theoretical focus is the acquisition of grammatical structure and its interaction with meaning. She uses online and offline psycholinguistic methodologies to investigate the linguistic nature of the bilingual and multilingual grammar.

Laura Dominguez

Laura Dominguez is Associate Professor of Linguistics and Deputy Director of CLLEAR. Laura's research interests lie in the areas of language development (first and second language acquisition, bilingualism and language attrition), and syntactic theory (syntax and the interfaces, information structure, Romance syntax and Hispanic linguistics), both within a generative framework.
