Ilda is a development and environmental economist working as a research fellow affiliated at the Trade Hub project that focuses on understanding how to make trade in global agricultural commodities sustainable for the environment and people. She is interested in using applied research to understand the policy trade-offs involved in sustainable development by using both quantitative and qualitative methods and interdisciplinary approaches.

Ilda has a wide range of experiences in international cooperation and development projects as well as Italian and European public policy research centres. She is currently based in the UK (University of Southampton) where she has obtained her PhD that focused on understanding how moral and social values may influence people’s behaviour and choices related to environmental resource management.

Research interests

Sustainable development; Development economics; Experimental methods for microeconomic analysis; Environmental economics; Spatial analysis of ecosystem services; Fairness and social norms; Public policy and equity.

PhD thesis title: Preferences for forest ecosystem services: are distributive justice principles reflected in values for Ecosystem Services?
