Hi, I'm Debajyoti Bhowmick and I studied MSc in Geoinformation for Environmental Management and Modelling (GEM) within Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton.

Ambiance, attitude, facilities... Southampton has the best minds to engage with while debating on academic subjects.

Q: Why did you choose to undertake your studies / research with the University of Southampton?

Even though the University of Southampton came selected as part of the Erasmus Mundus GEM programme, I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to study at Southampton as part of the GEM-MSc consortium. The University of Southampton offered me the best guidance and facilities while I pursued my interest in the field of remote sensing.

My experience at the University of Southampton inspired and encouraged me to pick the University in the concluding part of the GEM programme to work on remote sensing/calibration-validation as part of my MSc thesis.

Q: What did you enjoy about studying at Southampton?

Ambiance, attitude, facilities... Southampton has the best minds to engage with while debating on academic subjects.

Q: What have you been able to achieve as a result of studying at the University of Southampton?

Southampton gave me the opportunity to study and work upon some niche areas of my interest, which provided me with a firm platform from where I dream of carrying forward my research interest and to be engaged professionally. Presently, I’m employed with a multinational geospatial solution and service provider.
