Innovative Postdoctoral writing fellowship available

Published: 13 January 2014

Southampton is a world class centre for Geographical research. As such we seek to support Early Career Researchers (ECRs) who are at the cutting edge of the discipline. To achieve this we have launched a new initiative with the first Geography ‘Writing Fellowship’.

This fixed term (6 months) appointment recognises that often the pressures of working on a project leave little time to develop papers and funding proposals. What we want to do is provide an opportunity for an ambitious ECR to come in and have some space to get on with writing. The aim is to use the freedom afforded by this opportunity to work with colleagues in Geography to forge new ideas, to write up papers from PhD's or previous postdocs, but especially to submit a postdoctoral research fellowship application to a scheme of your choice. Our aspiration is that this opportunity will provide the financial and intellectual support needed to help launch your career as an independent researcher.

Our innovative “Writing Fellowship” is open to scholars within any area of human geography, and provide an excellent opportunity to join our vibrant research community at Southampton.

Full details on how to apply are available from our Jobs page . We look forward to an exciting exchange of knowledge and ideas.
