Geography and Environment celebrates National Student Survey success
Geography and Environment at the University of Southampton is celebrating the news that its National Student Survey (NSS) 2017 scores have risen substantially.
"Human and social Geography" ranked third out of all higher education institutions for Overall Satisfaction with 98 per cent.
Both the BA and BSc programmes achieved scores of over 90 per cent for a large number of other measures included in the survey, including the quality of teaching, staff availability to help students, and the quality of the library and course-specific resources available to students.
The excellent NSS scores follow news that the Geography department at Southampton is ranked in the top 20 of the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for 2017.
Professor Steve Darby, Head of Geography and Environment, said: "We are delighted to have achieved such excellent results in the NSS survey and the global league tables.
"These results are a clear reflection not only of the high quality of our faculties, but in particular they demonstrate the commitment of our staff to providing our students with a high quality education."
