The University of Southampton has risen 10 places to 14th in the Geography and Environmental Studies subject rankings that form part of the 2019 Guardian University Guide, published today (Tuesday, 29 May). In addition, the University has risen 12 places to 23rd in the overall university rankings.

For Geography at Southampton, this follows our recent return to the top 20 in the 2019 Complete University Guide subject rankings, as well as our top 15 place amongst UK universities in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018.

The Guardian University Guide ranks 121 UK institutions entirely based on undergraduate study and experience. As you might expect, the rankings are based around the criteria of entry tariffs, student satisfaction, graduate prospects, student-staff ratio and university spend per student. It also provides an overall ‘value added’ score (out of 10).
