Qualifications for geospatial analysis

This page provides a brief overview of the qualifications you might need to become a geospatial analyst.

Requirements will often vary between employers and be dependant on the specific requirements of the job.

Qualifications

  1. A degree in Geography or similar subject
  2. An MSc in Geographical Information Systems or similar degree subject is necessary for most posts.


Work experience

Knowledge of modelling, database design and some computer science is important. Some of this can be gained through on the job training, but previous knowledge may be important in gaining a position.
Experience in a GIS field is appropriate and may be requested by employers
