Qualifying as a climate change analyst

A brief overview of the qualifications and work experience you may need in order to persue a career as a climate change analyst.

Qualifications

  1. You are likely to need a background in Maths and Physics, so consider extra courses if you do not have these to at least A-level
  2. A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as geography
  3. If you want to have a role with more mathematics or modelling component you may need to consider a postgraduate course.
  4. Employment opportunities increase for candidates with a postgraduate degree. Suggested courses include environmental science, computer science or mathematics

 

Work experience

It may be possible to get experience in the field as a lab technician or field analyst and work up at analyst once you have sufficient experience. Research assistants are also good starting positions with a view to moving up within the company.
