Qualifying as an emergency management specialist

Due to the crisis situations emergency management specialists have to deal with, experience tends to be vital. A lot of employers will also look for a master's degree.

Qualifications

  1. Most positions require a bachelor’s degree
  2. A master’s degree in disaster management or similar field

Work experience

Typically, specialists have at least 5 years of experience to move into this position.

Experience in the industry is generally required, though usually it does not have to be role-based experience so it is a job well-suited to working your way up from a more junior position after completing your degree.
