TV researcher

Researchers work in any genre of television, creating and developing ideas for the show they are working on. The role also includes fact checking and writing briefs for on screen presenters. There are opportunities in working for broadcasters or freelance.

Typical work activities

Team work and customer service skills are vital as researchers must be able to build a rapport with production personnel and potential contributors.

Though not directly related, a degree in Geography shows an interest in the work and comes with research skills which are highly valuable in the role.

Work experience

Experience and knowledge of the production and pre-production process is vital. You could get this by finding work as a runner or PA in the industry and then moving up.
