The opportunities for Year in Employment, internships and the Business Innovation programme are all exciting options for undergraduate students across the University.

Year in Employment

The programme allows you to spend a year working in any organisation as part of your degree, giving you valuable work experience whilst you develop your employability skills. You can undertake a Year in Employment after Year 2. The opportunity is open to all students who have no placement opportunities currently built into their course (see www. southampton.ac.uk/careers/students/work-experience/year-in-employment.page for eligibility). Come along to our session ‘Year in Employment – Your questions answered’ and learn more about how you can find a placement and join the programme!

Or contact the placements team workexp@soton.ac.uk. You may also find paid work placements during Easter, summer (full time) and during the term (part time) through the Excel Southampton Internship Programme (www.southampton.ac.uk/careers/internships). These placements are open to all students and recent graduates and offer great opportunities to develop valuable skills and experience by working on real life projects for organisations. You can also benefit from training and support provided by the Internship Team within the University’s Careers & Employability Service.
