Project description
This project was a continuation of the GH-2000 project undertaking the additional validation work required prior to having the test implemented by WADA.
The specific aims of the GH-2004 project were:
- To validate a test for growth hormone misuse based on the measurement of two bio-markers IGF-I and P-III-NP
- To develop a reference range for two growth hormone sensitive markers (IGF-I and P-III-P) in elite athletes
- To study the variability in these markers over time
- To investigate the sensitivity of these markers to growth hormone administration in different ethnic groups
- To investigate the effects of injury on the growth hormone sensitive markers in different ethnic groups
The GH-2004 Project Components:
i). Cross-sectional study
ii). Double-blind study
iii). Longitudinal study
iv). Injury study
v). Pre-analytical storage conditions
