Dankmar had positions in Berlin at the Charite Medical School from 1982-2005, in Reading 2005-2011. Since 2011 he is Professor in Medical Statistics in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton and is also Deputy Director of the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute. He had visiting positions in Munich, Vienna, Graz, Penn State (USA) and Bangkok (Thailand). His interests are in statistical methods for meta-analysis, capture-recapture modelling for medical and health sciences and count data modelling. He is also involved in developing statistical methodology for growth hormone misuse. Dankmar had numerous grants and about 20 PhD students finished under his supervision.

Walailuck Böhning (Tan) received a BSc in Medical Technology and MSc in Biostatistics from Mahidol University in Bangkok (Thailand).

She had positions as a medical researcher at Endocrinology Unit, Medical Center of Ramathibodee Hospital, Mahidol University and a medical technologist and biostatistician at Endocrinology Division of Medical Department, Phramongkutklao Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.

In Germany she worked as a research assistant (part-time) at the University of Münster, Münster, Germany. At present she works as a part-time research assistant under the supervision of Professor Richard Holt at the Institute of Developmental Sciences, University of Southampton, Southampton General Hospital, Southampton, England.
