International strategic partnerships

University of Southampton Malaysia Campus

Our campus in Malaysia has excellent facilities, designed for effective learning with full access to learning resources at the Southampton campus in the UK. Following the first two years in Malaysia our students continue their studies in the UK with access to our world-class research facilities. Dalian Polytechnic University

In March 2010, the Dalian Polytechnic University (DPU) and the University of Southampton’s Winchester School of Art (WSA) entered into a partnership to provide undergraduate Art and Design programmes. Find out more about our partnership with Dalian Polytechnic University.

Collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Management; the Agency for Science, Technology and Research: A*STAR and Nanyang Technological University

Our collaboration with these three partners in Singapore offers opportunities to study a wide range of subjects (law, management, optoelectronics and chemistry) and undertake research in an international environment.

Collaboration with the Universities of Finance and Economics, China

The University’s collaboration with Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, top finance and economics universities in Shanghai, Nanchang and Nanjing (China) offer students from China the opportunity to study these subjects at a combination of world class institutions.

Worldwide Universities Network

The University of Southampton is a founder member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), a leading global higher education and research network made up of 18 universities, spanning 11 countries on five continents. Together they drive international research collaboration and address issues of global significance.

Partnership networks and initiatives


RENKEI is the Japanese word for “collaboration” and in this context also stands for Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives. RENKEI was launched by the British Council at their ‘Going Global’ conference in 2012 as Japan-UK partnership to expand university and industry ties in the fields of science and technology. The participating universities in RENKEI are forming pilot projects for collaboration in three main areas: technology and knowledge exchange with industry, student mobility and universities’ social engagement.

Santander Partnership

Our partnership with Santander brings an extensive range of teaching, research and employability-related initiatives and opportunities for staff and students.

Mexsu: Centre for Mexico - Southampton Collaboration

MEXSU exists to promote and further the many links between the University of Southampton and the higher education sector in Mexico.


The SETsquared partnership helps entrepreneurs turn innovative ideas into viable and successful businesses.

South East Physics Network

The South East Physics Network (SEPnet) is a consortium of nine university physics departments working together to deliver excellence in physics, through collaboration, teaching and research.

Science and Engineering South

The Science and Engineering South (SES) consortium is the most powerful cluster of research intensive universities in the UK that share research equipment, training and skills in the fields of physical sciences, bio-sciences and engineering.
