Santander Partnership

An extensive range of initiatives for staff and students have been supported which have fostered international links and mobility to and from other Santander partner countries, as well as a variety of teaching, research and employability-related projects at the University of Southampton.

We have been a Santander partner university since 2008.

Santander partnership activities


We offer several Santander - University of Southampton scholarships of between £1,000 and £5,000 for students from Santander partner countries who wish to study at the University of Southampton. These scholarships are available for foundation, undergraduate and Masters programmes to students from Latin America, the USA and Spain.


Study abroad scholarships have been awarded to support outgoing undergraduate students who wish to spend a semester or a full year studying at a partner university. Awards are also available for academic staff and PhD students to develop partnerships with other universities in Santander countries.

Latin America Fund

Several funding awards are offered for collaborative activities with Latin American institutions. The Santander UoS Latin America Fund supports the mobility of incoming or outgoing staff and students.

Several projects aim to enhance our students' career prospects once they finish their studies. These have included:

The Santander Universities SME Internship Programme for 2016/17 supports internships for any students or graduate from the University of Southampton;

Teaching and learning resources

There has been on-going support for the work of E-languages who are based in our Modern Languages department. They have developed a range of online learning resources for international students and language learners, including a Masters in English Language Teaching, initially supported by the British Council Mexico, and now available worldwide.

University of Southampton branch

The University branch of Santander bank is located in the Gower building on the Highfield Campus. Opening hours are 10.00 to 18.00 Monday to Friday (10.00 to 17.00 on Wed).
