The Centre for Health, Ethics and Law (HEAL) holds a lecture each academic year featuring an esteemed scholar on the topic of health, ethics and law. The lecture series is named in the honour of Professor Jonathan Montgomery, who was Professor of Health Care Law and a founding member of HEAL. Professor Montgomery is widely recognised as both having redefined health care law in the UK and made a significant contribution to its theoretical understanding. He has also undertaken a number of significant public service roles, including Chair of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and the Health Research Authority, as well as contributions to a wide range of professional guidelines.
