Dr David Kryl PhD
Director, Wessex Centre for Implementation Science
Dr David Kryl is the Director of the Centre for Implementation Science, responsible for the overall team strategy and delivery of evaluation support to the Wessex Academic Health Science Network.
Data, evaluation and insight can improve patient outcomes and are key to making a positive impact on everyone’s health and wellbeing.
David’s career has revolved around strategy, performance and project management in complex environments. He received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, McGill University and supplemented this with an economics degree from the University of London. He has a particular interest in using clinical, health services and management evidence to improve clinical outcomes for patients.
David previously held a dual role as Head of Business Intelligence at the National Institute for Health Research and Research Leader in the RAND Europe Innovation and Technology Policy team. At the NIHR, David implemented a monitoring and evaluation framework for health research outputs and outcomes, while, through RAND Europe, he evaluated the effectiveness of funding programmes in matching policy. Prior to this David worked at Cancer Research UK, where he helped establish impact assessment frameworks for scientific research programmes. He was also part of the change management team responsible for updating grant management processes.
David has also contributed to building science capacity in developing countries both in the private sector, through a biotech start-up, and the United Nations System.
