Dr Graham Petley is a Principal Teaching Fellow within the School of Health Sciences. Graham has extensive experience in the fields of Medical Physics and Bioengineering and has a particular interest in clinical measurement and the development of novel Medical Devices.

Graham has a strong interest in Medical Instrumentation having more than 25 years’ experience as a Clinical Scientist working in the fields of Medical Physics and Bioengineering within a Hospital environment.
Graham completed an undergraduate degree in Physics in 1985 at the University of Southampton before going on to complete a PhD in Medical Ultrasonics in 1994. Having secured a post in Medical Physics at Southampton General Hospital, Graham lead a team developing Medical Devices for innovative clinical service and research applications.
In collaboration with both clinical colleagues at University Hospital Southampton and academics at the University of Southampton he has developed a diverse range of research interests but particularly focussing on the fields of resuscitation and osteoporosis.
Graham also has a long-standing interest in education and specifically in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements. Graham joined Southampton University in 2014 where he is now Director of Programmes for the Allied Health Professions and Cardiac Physiology programmes in the School of Health Sciences.
