Mrs Lesley Y Turner's photo

Lesley joined the University in 2019 after working in Adult Nurse education and on Access to Higher Education programmes. She has worked as a midwife in local Trusts and has close ties with practice. Lesley is part of the Workforce Research group with an interest in staffing on postnatal wards.

Lesley is a personal academic tutor and an academic assessor under the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment.  She oversees placement allocation and communication with our providers.

Previous roles as Clinical Educator and Practice Development Midwife enable Lesley to supervise the development of clinical skills.  Having taught students on Access and Foundation Degree level, she supports students with study skills to enable them to progress to levels 6 and 7.

Previous work for the NHS Health Technology Assessment Programme has given a good foundation in research methodology which will be developed as part of future work.  She contributed to a highly cited paper for the Cochrane Colorectal Cancer Collaborative group and has published work relating to autism in pregnancy.  As an Autism Ambassador she is keen to promote inclusion and support for students and staff with autism.
