Ruth Arundell is the Academic Independent Learning Advisor for Health Sciences, and works with students and staff to support the development of academic skills with the aim of helping all our students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. She has a broad background in both further and higher education and has supported students at all levels, enabling her to understand what is involved in making a successful transition to higher education and becoming a fully independent and self directed learner.

We are all capable of so much more than we know: for many students academic skills are the missing link between potential and achievement.

Ruth is a qualified teacher with an academic background in social and political philosophy and ethics. She has fifteen years’ teaching experience in post-compulsory education and has taught Philosophy, English (including English as a foreign language) and Academic Skills in FE, HE and the voluntary sector.
