Dr Richard Guerrero-Ludueña is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Health Sciences and at the NHS Wessex Academic Health Science Network (AHSN).
I am passionate about improving efficiency and value in healthcare by using a rigorous and robust analytical approach
Richard’s research interests are in the use of Data Analytics and Operational Research in the management, organisation and performance of health services, both in the UK and internationally.
Richard joined the Health Sciences in April 2015 after a year as academic visitor at Southampton Business School. He previously worked as a researcher at the Barcelona Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute and, earlier, at the University of Valladolid and Sugar Technology Centre in Spain. In Chile, he worked at the Ministry of Health and several years as a business intelligence analyst at a retail company.
As a result of his collaborations with NHS England, he has been awarded with Research Honorary Contracts with: NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (CSU); The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS FT; Dorset County Hospital NHS FT; Poole Hospital NHS FT; Isle of Wight NHS Trust; Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust; and Hampshire Hospitals NHS FT.
He obtained a PhD in Statistics (Healthcare modelling) at the University of Barcelona, a MSc in Process and Systems Engineering at the University of Valladolid, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering at the University of Talca.
Richard’s work aims to support healthcare organisations in the analysis of activity, capacity and demand.
